[ It's a good thing Alice kept this satchel filled with bones the whole entire time, because otherwise, she is sure she would have lost them in the fight. Once she's back in Caer Scima with Celegorm's grey mare, Alice has picked a spot
Does it matter what spot? Well, she'll just. Leave the satchel of bones out on a group of stones that could be easily made into an alter if she believed in such things. It's a good thing she's alone. Alice leaves them splayed out, simply because it gives her something to do if she's not completely conversing with the horse. ]
[ Desperate times call for desperate measures; would travels fast around Caer Scima that Reynard may or may not take to the field in Maupertius.
There's no way she's good enough to hold off forces in battle, she's too small. Not another should have to defend her this time, they won't be there forever. And it's simply not fair. It took well over ten years to accept that it was not her fault for the fire, but now, of course, she has plenty of lingering guilt for the past battles. So Alice returns, making sure that the elven sword is still at her side, just in case. She's always with the vorpal blade. Once she gets to the shrine she made, Alice stops, glancing around. ]
I think I may need your help.
[ It feels silly to ask for help, at a shrine, when Alice was far from religious or spiritual. She wrote those things off years ago in bitterness. ]
I was hoping I might be able to have a chat with you about a couple of things, at the behest of Higgin, the majordomo of Caer Scima. I'm looking to take note of your current whereabouts and any special abilities you may have or may have been granted by Morla.
I appreciate that this is actually very forward, but you'd be doing me an incredible favour by getting in touch.
[ Getting out of Reynard's hands and out of the ocean, Alice has been left a little weak, worse for wear, that now she's mustered up some guts to go out of the Barrel, but she doesn't stray too far. It's not long after she wakes, she slips out without saying a word. She instructs Sophie to stay behind and doesn't come unarmed. The vorpal blade back on her, secured with the elven sword, but it may be a little pointless. There's bruises on her face still from Reynard, in addition to her wrists cut up from the bonds.
Alice is tired. She does not come out here for power or request, she comes out here because he's a friend and Alice cares about her friends. She just so happens to put him up above others. With the bones she was collecting (and she does make a point to collect a lot), Alice glances around and goes back to setting up the shrine. She doesn't rise, she sulks forward, tired.
Still tired. She needs to get stronger. ]
Outsider?

[before she begins, she goes through motions she feels are right -- cleaning away dust, lighting the candles, locking the door. a private conversation should remain private, and she didn't want to be disturbed. nor did she want the Outsider to feel disrespected.
when that is complete, she bows her head and prays. not like to the Shuck, when she exposed her heart to the winter chill and let it fall into silence, but a request sent through the aether with her will behind it.
[ Alice still picks up bones and offerings now and again, she keeps an upkeep of this shrine possibly a bit more than anyone at this particular shrine. It was the first one she made. Instead of asking him for any favors, she's just checking in, treating him like any other friend of her's. She hasn't started her rounds quite yet, but she will.
It was a bad idea to cut her palm, too. The wound from two days ago still hurts. ]
Wan could have tried using the network the shardbearer called Hermione had put together to contact the Outsider, but he wasn't sure if that would get through right away and he felt that matter at hand was important enough to use the more direct contact method the shrines provided. He found the shrine he'd stumbled across in March right where it had been. Still decorated with the bird skeleton. He did a little cleaning up, though it was obvious that someone (or someones) in the area had been keeping it up fairly regularly.
Once that was finished, Wan bowed to the shrine, "Outsider, I need a moment of your time. Please, the balance of nature relies on quick action and you're the only one I know that might be able to find the kind of people I'm in need of."
[it's a little past the Third Spire, this one. hastily done, a flat rock swept of snow, a few blossoms bold enough to bloom even with the snow, a small fire burning nearby. and a few small bones from a recently killed deer, cleansed with handfuls of melted snow. her charges sleep soundly within the structure she is not far from, the soldiers she has instructed to come and shake her back to consciousness if she is needed.
she had intended to wholeheartedly ignore her locket for this time, and so she has. the compass, however...whatever could be so vital, it had to be said in secrecy, and she can feel a pit in her stomach with the news that Saber had brought.
it was still safe in her, that one. still sleeping. that safety was why she had done such an absurd thing after all -- there would be no way to take it from her unconsciously. and why she had asked the same of him.
closing her eyes, she sends the thought out there. This I dedicate to the Outsider.]

Nun.
I thought that you would appreciate this gift. Of water, and something to light the way. It is of the sea, something you hold so dear.
Thank you, for being a sea worthy thing, in my life.
Outsider, you wouldn't happen to know about those children by the seashore, do you?
[ There is really one other black-eyed person she knows and she distinctly remembers giving him courting advice. Her mind is going too all the wrong places. ]
Hey Dad God. I'm building the scourge of the seas and I'm thinking....why not get help from a guy who would possibly have an investment in the ocean and things like that. Come on bro, I know you got something that can help. Like some kind of magic that says "Will always have favorable winds".
[ Lavellan sets some seashells down with the other pieces of bone that construct the shrine. She briefly touches the jaw bone that makes up the centerpiece. ]
Outsider? If you have a moment, I would like to speak with you.
[ It's late in the month when Lavellan calls upon the Outsider again, waiting until noon to ask for him. At her side are two wolfhounds to be inspected, already bought with Lavellan's own coin (and well-haggled, she might add) for him to see. One, with icy blue eyes, appears to be the more wary of the two, though both sit side-by-side rather obediently with Lavellan, waiting.
The magic she calls up from the charm is enough to raise their hackles. ]
[ Billy's at the shrine near Srathmarbh, when he calls. He feels kind of weird talking to the shrine, but it's likely the fastest way to let the Outsider know how the whole thing went. ]
Hey, I wanted to let you know that I managed to talk five of your children into moving. They're safe at Srathmarbh, if you wanted to see them? I think they're doing pretty okay over here.
[ He'll wait around for a few minutes to see if there's a response, but if not he'll wander off and assume his message was received. ]
